Rob Gowans
Why would you like to be elected to the role(s) you are standing for?
I’m seeking your support to be elected as one of the branch’s Campaigns Officers.
Currently, I’m helping organise the Edinburgh and West Lothian campaign for the Westminster election. Although there are no (scheduled!) elections in the next year, it’s important to get organised and build up our campaigning capacity for the Holyrood and Council elections. If elected, I want to:
- Support new campaign organisers at branch and sub-branch levels
- Complete work on developing an election strategy for the branch
- Initiate a development and support programme for newly-selected Holyrood candidates
What skills and experience would you bring to the role(s) you are standing for?
I have extensive election campaign organising experience, and have played a key role in organising campaigns locally and nationally in every election since I joined the party 10 years ago. I’ve been Co-Convenor of the national Elections and Campaigns Committee, and served as branch Co-Convenor between 2021 and 2023.
In my day job I’m a Policy and Public Affairs Manager for a national charity, and live in Gorgie.
It would be an honour to be elected as a Campaigns Officer, to help us build towards electing more MSPs and Councillors!
