Robyn Kane

Hiya, my name is Robyn Kane, long time voter first time candidate! I would like to stand for the Liberton and Gilmerton ward where I've spent most of my life living and working. This includes my volunteering in the housing sector where I have served as chairperson in my local residents association for eight years. I initially got involved in tenant participation because of faulty windows in my house. This got me involved with Gilmerton and Inch community council and later on Edinburgh Tenants Federation where I have now been a member of their executive committee for 6 years.

Since becoming a community activist I have prevented a plot of green space from being built on and instead the area has been rewilded and upgraded for community use and I have received the Tenants Information Services National Excellence Award for this work.

I think I'd make a good councillor because I want to help more people. I'm looking to represent people like me who have struggled with mental health issues, poverty and injustice from a faulty system. I think I could help resolve issues in the area that have been going unnoticed for years such as:

-Housing inequality,

-Maintenance of public pathways and roads and

-Improving services for people who are under-represented.

I am asking for your support so that I can help as many people as possible and help create a better Edinburgh. If you'd like to see the work I've already done or have any questions please email me: Robyn.kane3@gmail.com
