Statement
Vote Morgane Perez-Huet #1: a hard-working local champion
About me:
- Civil servant for six years, delivering environmental, renewable energy and climate policy across Scotland
- Community councillor and engagement officer, making my community council more diverse and accessible
- Active Greens member: former co-convener of North Edinburgh and Leith Greens, co-convener of the International Committee and member of Greens of Colour
My experience:
- Part of a small volunteer team that developed, consulted on and wrote the Leith Local Place Plan, now accepted by Edinburgh Council
- Hosted, as a Community Councillor, a Leith Screening of the People's Emergency Briefing
- Working with CEC on Thriving Green Spaces, ensuring that Leith green spaces are protected and improved
- Led on projects that build climate resilience, literacy and adaptation in communities across Scotland, and championing a project celebrating ethnic diversity with Scottish Greens of Colour
- LLM in Global Environment and Climate Change Law (Edinburgh, 2018) and Juris Doctor in Ocean-Climate Litigation (2024)
- I have also worked with the Lumbee Nation against the Atlantic Coast Pipeline, and with the United Nations on resolutions on women's rights and marine plastic pollution.
Why I will be an excellent councillor:
I know how to bring people into local decision-making, and I have delivered on planning, climate action and community engagement. I would be proud to serve the people of my community.
