Do you hear that sound outside?

It’s the whistle of the wind, with change in the air ahead of May.

As a Leither & proud working-class Scottish Asian with a chronic health condition - (‘mon the Hibs!), I have always worked to give those left behind in low socioeconomic areas a voice.

Whether it’s young people experiencing trauma, the LGBTQIA+ community, refugees/asylum seekers, those living in isolation, or folk in recovery or with low mental health - I’ve supported to empower them and help change their lives for the better.

Too many politicians - both local & national - are just too middle-class and too removed from people’s everyday concerns (no shade, just honest!).

And this is an opportunity to change that.

BUT

I need you, ma lovely wee Green pals, as I cannot do it without your support and skills.

I truly believe that social inequality and environmental issues are intertwined. We cannot solve one without the other.

We can bring people together in tackling the climate crisis, over-tourism, lack of social housing, introduce rent controls, tackle shady landlords, and end homelessness. Only then can we truly tackle far-right ideology permeating, especially in working-class areas. And also give Edinburgh Council a right kick up the proverbial!
