Statement
I grew up in the English countryside. My Dad passed on his love of nature on long walks. My own loves include Nature, the Arts, History, and Humanity (most of the time).
Once our mission was to halt the brutality of Thatcherism. The urgency now and over decades, is to reverse the destruction of our communal resources across the Planet.
I’ve always known we won’t rescue the Planet without challenging Capitalism and energy consumption, and stopping the waste of wars with all the toxic poison they spew out. Humanity, wealth sharing, the Environment - all linked inextricably. Hence my being a Green.
I have been a youth worker, a mental health worker, a website developer, a labourer, and currently a support worker.
I have helped deliver 13 Leith Festivals (Chair since 2018,) helped deliver 9 Abbeyhill Colony of Artists weekends and run the quiz nights.
As a Labour Councillor for Leith Walk for 5 years, I was very proactive, supporting urban green spaces and biodiversity, TU and disabled rights, migration, and many local groups, especially parks and schools. My Group delivered the Living Wage and trams.
My proudest personal moments were fighting a mass eviction, bringing the Hiroshima Ginkgo seeds to Edinburgh, helping fly the Palestinian flag over City Chambers, and helping win some big planning campaigns. I stood firmly against outsourcing.
I would love the chance to represent my local area again. I do not fear hard yards.
But I would embrace the chance to run somewhere nearby.
