Statement
Thank you for considering me as your councillor for a Green Edinburgh.
Homes for a population the size of Bathgate is coming to West Edinburgh, without a joined-up plan for building communities. I want to represent the west and make it as good as it can be, while reducing homelessness and hardship across the city.
Serving on the national Policy Committee for five years, the last three as Co-convener, I have helped members bring motions to Conference. I supported democratic processes behind the Holyrood 26 Manifesto and am now working on the Local Elections 27 Manifesto. I also spent four years on the Women's Network Committee and gained campaigning experience as candidate for Holyrood 26.
Outside the party, I have 30 years' experience as an environmental scientist, with a PhD in Marine Geology. I am the co-founder of a company and inventor of an environmentally safer material that replace CO2-emitting cement.
I live in the Pentland Hills in West Edinburgh with my husband, two nearly grown children, a little dog and some very small chickens. I plant trees for fun. As Chair of Ratho and District Community Council, I represent a rural area covering half of Almond Ward and half of Pentland Ward, the two largest wards in the city. Without any Green ward-councillors, I have worked to calm our roadspeeds and make communities safer, and I have fought quarries and the West Hermiston AI Data Centre, which threaten prime agricultural land.
I hope that you will vote me #1.
