Statement
The far right is growing, but Greens still have time to shift the dial before it takes root locally. We must bring the Green movement into neighbourhoods across Edinburgh. People want power over their lives, yet anger at living costs and failing public services is being turned against migrants and marginalised neighbours. I believe collective action can turn that anger into hope and change. As a community development worker and youth worker, I support residents to lead regeneration in Wester Hailes. I co-founded Southwest Edinburgh For All, a locally led anti-racist and anti-fascist group; am building Trade Unions in Communities in Wester Hailes; and helped establish Migrant Justice Edinburgh to build migrant power citywide. These are practical, strategic approaches I use to organise my activism by giving power to people, so they can lead collective action to change their own lives. My politics means being present in daily life and organising with people, so communities can lead—not only speaking for them.
I will fight for a welcoming, ecofeminist Edinburgh: an economy that sustains life and the planet rather than profit; opposition to hyperscale data centres; fair pay and recognition for essential work and often invisibilised domestic labour; public services being delivered based on their value for the common good; housing as a right rather than a commodity; and more politicised community spaces where local people can develop critical awareness and organise for change.
