Statement
Since being elected in 2022, I’ve worked hard to progress Green values in Edinburgh Council. From advocating for minoritised groups, fighting third sector cuts, and being the first politician in Scotland to call for a moratorium on data centres, I’m not afraid to be outspoken for what our members believe in. This commitment extends to work behind the scenes where I have fought for greater transparency, better processes, and to improve the culture of the Council.
I’ve also been an active ward Councillor, advocating for people and community groups in Portobello/Craigmillar - resulting in increased investment in youth activities in Craigmillar and new toilets for the prom early next year, for example.
This work was recognised in the recent byelection where we almost doubled our vote-share and had huge success in traditionally non-green areas. Having secured an incredible new local Councillor, I feel confident that the ward is in good hands and that it’s the right time for me to seek selection in a new ward.
I’m therefore asking members to give me their #1 vote for Leith Walk. I’m really proud of what I have achieved as the Councillor for Portobello/Craigmillar and feel excited about building on everything I’ve learned to continue Susan Rae’s fantastic work. As a more local area to me, I already have a good grounding in the key issues in Leith Walk ward and a strong network of support, and would be honoured to be one of the 2 new Councillors elected there.
