Statement
I was born and raised in Edinburgh, and after leaving for university, I spent 13 years away from the city (in St Andrews, France, Palestine, Jordan, Switzerland, Glasgow then London) before moving back home in 2024. I've spent most of my career working for human rights and social justice nonprofits, and I now work as Kate Nevens’ parliamentary officer in Holyrood. I am running to be your #1 choice in the City Centre as I feel I have so much to offer the heart of our city. As well as being the centre of much of Edinburgh’s history and culture, it is also the place where a lot of the issues affecting the city are most heightened, such as inadequate active travel options, unaffordable rents, short-term lets pushing communities out, and unequal greenspace access. In council, I would apply a radical, feminist, anti-racist lens to all decision-making and I would fight for a greener and fairer city for everyone. I am co-convener of the Central Edinburgh Greens, and - until very recently - a resident of the City Centre (I now live just outside the ward). I was a member of the campaigns team which delivered our best ever Holyrood result, and I love getting out campaigning and speaking to people about the issues that matter to them. I love Edinburgh, but I believe it could be so much better. I am eager to be a part of the largest ever Green group on council to transform this city for the better for all the wonderful people who live here. Email: catherine.anderson.greens@gmail.com.
