Participatory Budget 2025

We look forward to hearing your ideas on how to distribute the Branch's Participatory Budget this year. This page tells you what we would like to achieve with this budget and how to apply.

Some guidelines for applications:

The projects you propose can be events or initiatives or involve purchasing materials or equipment. They should aim to do at least one of the following:

  • Promote Green values
  • Improve diversity and inclusion across the branch
  • Increase membership across the branch
  • Increase membership participation and engagement

Please remember to tell voters how the project meets the criteria for funding, what budget you need to make it happen and how the project will be carried out. If the project is not a one-off event, tell us who will look after any items purchased and what they will do to make sure they continue to be used.

To make help make this a success we would encourage people to consult with any partners that could help strengthen your application. Do get in touch with other members for support and ideally work with your sub-branch to develop your ideas. Projects that have been developed by groups with good input and discussion tend to be stronger.

Timeline and application process

  • Applications open in February

  • Application support is available through branch microsite or from the branch co-convenors

  • Sub-branches to promote and encourage applications through sub branch meetings and/or communications.

  • Applications close on 28th March

  • Gallery opens to view projects on this website from 4th April

  • Voting takes place from 21st to 30th April

    • All voters can vote for up to 3 projects in order of preference.

    • The projects with the most votes, using an STV model win, where funds allow.

    • Applicants will have the chance to showcase projects at our Branch meeting on 24th April

  • Results announced first week in May

  • Funds available immediately

  • Each proposer completes an evaluation of the project for inclusion in branch communications in December and June (AGM)
