Why would you like to be elected to the role(s) you are standing for?
After 2 years as a Branch Co Convenor, learning alot about the workings of the branch and the national party, I'd really like to spend the next couple of years focused on helping us to win more elected representatives.
This year, I'm standing for either Elections & Campaigns Officer or Welfare and Conduct Officer. I think all roles in the branch are critical, but these two roles feel like the right ones for me to apply the party knowledge I've gained, but to also learn new things, build new relationships and keep my contribution to our branch fresh. Being an active organiser of our campaigns team and/or supporting the wellbeing of our candidates and branch members in the year ahead looks to me to be rewarding and hopefully good fun too.
What skills, knowledge and life experience would you bring to the role(s) you are standing for?
I hope I've shown over the last 2 years that I'm organised, honest and do what I say I will. Being a good communicator and reliable are crucial skills in a campaigns role. As a candidate in 2022 and organiser for a ward byelection in 2023, I have good campaigns experience. Taking on a Campaigns Officer role seems a natural next step.
Whilst I'm a pretty task-focused person, I fundamentally care about fairness and equality. We won't achieve much if we don't pull togther in the year ahead. As a trained mental health first aider, and former branch Access & Inclusion Officer, I would apply that experience to helping create a positive environment to support candidates and volunteers. I'm also an experienced people manager and active listener.
