North Edinburgh and Leith Sub-branch Report 2024
Report
We are pleased to publish a report showcasing what the North Edinburgh and Leith
Sub-Branch was up to for the last 12 months
The subbranch committee
• Co-Convenors: Tara Coldwell Brock and Mariusz Cebulski.
• Membership Secretary: Ian McCormick.
• Ordinary Member: Lennie Sefton, Nick Gardner.
• Secretary: Ben Moverley Smith.
Meetings and events
The sub-branchcontinued to meet monthly with two breaks in August and December.
Most meetings took place at Leith Community Centre but we also had a meeting at
Royston Wardieburn Community Centre to reach members in other parts of our area.
All meetings were organized in a hybrid fashion, when they can be joined either
in person or online.
In addition to our monthly branch meetings, we’ve decided to have monthly social
gatherings. Those included litter-picks, boardgame nights or just a social
meeting a the pub.
As it’s been tradition for a number of years, the branch organized a stall at
Leith Gala Day, which was very popular with the crowd. We will be taking part
again in 2024 with the Gala happening just two days before our AGM.
Membership
The membership stands at 433 and has grown by 40 since last year. Seems like SNP
breaking the Bute House agreement has lead to a significant influx of new
members.
The membership secretaryIan continued to engage new members by
sending welcome emails, calling them and organizing new members meetings. They
have provided a warm welcome to all members which helped engage them with the
party.
Green News
Our party newsletter “Green News” continues to be one of the best ways of
spreading our message to voters. We’ve organized deliveries throughout the year
delivering about 15 thousand leaflets in our sub-branch area, same as last
year..
Finances
The branch has spent 325 pounds, which includes room hire for our monthly
meetings, venue hire for our social events and the stall hire at Leith Gala.
Plans ahead
The new committee will meet soon to discuss the sub-branches committee for the
next twelve months. This will include figuring ways of improving membership,
getting members involved in our work, planning or campaigns and events.
