Statement
Hi! I’m Ben and alongside Kate, I’ve been one of the branch co-convenors this past year. We’ve really enjoyed working with the committee and each other so are asking for your #1 and #2 votes to continue in the role for a 2nd year.
It’s been a busy and strange past year! Since coming into post, Kate & I have helped steer the branch through:
The (snap) general election campaign, where we ran candidates in every constituency in Edinburgh
Keeping branch meetings, communications and core activities going through COVID-19
Kicking off the Holyrood election campaign, helping to establish the Lothian campaign team for 2021
We’ve also:
Worked with the committee to establish a working group structure and offer new ways for members to be involved with the branch
Worked closely with local teams and members to develop local actions and capacity, including running trainings and strategy days
Worked hard to try and improve the diversity of our committee and candidates, including running ‘pathways into politics’ events for under-represented groups, and helping ensure that accessibility/inclusion is considered across all branch activity, including in the budget
Taken a collaborative, participatory approach to running meetings, helping to facilitate decision-making where all voices are heard
