Why would you like to be elected to the role(s) you are standing for?
As a proud working-class Scottish-Asian with a long-term chronic health condition I'd be honoured to be selected as Ordinary Member for the Elections & Campaigns Working Group.
Having been politically invested but apathetic in the last few years due to a feeling of powerlessness, I have been inspired by the Scottish Greens' brilliant result in the elections.
I can bring my skills and experience of working with various groups, (from the young or old, from refugees to folk feeling left behind by the system), to help the party reach those who need us more than ever.
Having always supported those underserved and underrepresented, I truly believe that the likes of Reform and the far right should not be seen as the domain of the working class.
What skills, knowledge and life experience would you bring to the role(s) you are standing for?
The skills and experience I can bring include:
Empowering people in the areas of Muirhouse, Pilton, Granton, Drylaw and Pennywell in supporting people in tackling social isolation and those in recovery as Community Development Worker
Leading the transformative Lifting Neighbourhoods Together (LNT) project introducing systemic change and practices in lifting three socially deprived areas in Edinburgh out of poverty
Co-Founder of the Leith-based Sett Studios, an inclusive and safe art space for those from low socio-economic backgrounds & supporting community groups including those identifying as LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC
Used a platform of social activism to reach out to those isolated across the city as Filmhouse Community Engagement Manager
