Why would you like to be elected to the role(s) you are standing for?
I'd like to support the branch through the crucial campaign over the coming year and play my part in getting more Green councillors elected, so we can have more clout. We need to develop an offering to the people of Edinburgh that is eye-catching, radical, workable and effective. I'm particularly interested in climate action and equity, diversity and inclusion. I want to see through some projects I've worked on in my role as a co-opted EDI officer this past year, but just as an ordinary member this time. We've achieved success with accessibility of campaign routes, which I've led on, but we need to do a great deal more to capitalise on that, document what's been done and disseminate best practice. I hope others will stand for EDI Officer.
What skills, knowledge and life experience would you bring to the role(s) you are standing for?
I've been an activist for 30 years, with Stonewall, Amnesty, trade unions & the Scottish Greens these past fourteen years continuously. I've had many roles in Edinburgh Greens. I ran W Edinburgh local team, coordinating volunteers through several election campaigns. I've served on branch committee several times. Many years ago now I worked as a political researcher then as a policy officer in higher education. I enjoy on-the-ground campaigning. I run a voluntary group called Data 4 Climate Action Edinburgh (D4CAE) collaborating with climate action groups. We have a blog, a dashboard and an annual report. I'm a cis lesbian. I'm v active campaigning for LGBTQ+ inclusion, particularly to support our trans siblings in these torrid times.
