Statement
I have been a member of the Scottish Green Party for around 10 years and part of the City Centre group until moving to West of Edinburgh. I am a chartered planner and especially interested in this area of policy.
When a member of the City Centre group I had the opportunity to provide occasional planning advice and support to SGP councillors. I helped organise and deliver a workshop during the early stages of the Edinburgh local development plan consultation, to increase knowledge of the process and encourage people to engage. This involved working with the rest of the group to plan the event, facilitating discussions, empowering members to advocate on issues they cared about and helping to produce content to feed back to the Council.
I have experience of working with other branch members to develop the planning policy for the PRD and supported them in presenting this at conference. This gave me experience of working with others on policy and discussing issues in person and through the online forum.
I work in Policy and Advocacy for a national environmental charity, and have experience of advocating for policy changes and briefing elected members. This role also involves working closely with communications and campaigns colleagues to identify and deliver the most effective ways of meeting aims and objectives.
I have good attention to detail and writing skills. I feel that I work very well as part of a team and would contribute positively to the Policy and Campaigns Group.
