Statement
Hi! I’m Kate and, alongside Ben Parker, I’ve been one of the branch co-convenors for the past two years. During this time I’ve also been a Scottish Green Party candidate for both the General Election in 2019 and the Scottish Parliamentary election in May 2021.
I’ve really enjoyed being co-convenor of the branch and working with the branch committee. Although I’m not putting myself forward for the convenor position again, I’m keen to stay involved in the committee and in particular help out with the upcoming local elections, either as the local teams development officer or as an ordinary member of the committee.
During the past two years I’ve worked closely with local teams and members to develop local actions and capacity, including running trainings and strategy days and contributing to organising election campaigns. I’d be keen to support our local council candidates and the local teams over the next year. I'm really impressed with what Megan McHaney has achieved in the local teams committee role this past year, and hope to be able to continue her good work as she concentrates on being a candidate!
Outside of green party politics, I work as a freelance facilitator, researcher and campaigner, with a focus on equalities and human rights and international peace and security.
