Having been co-opted to the Edinburgh Green Party Committee in 2020 as Communications Co-ordinator, I am as enthused as ever about continuing to be involved in local Green activism as an elected member of the 21/22 Committee.

I’ve really enjoyed working alongside other Committee members, elected representatives and ordinary members over the past 9 months. As we begin to move closer to the recovery stage of the pandemic and with the Edinburgh Council elections fast approaching, I’d love to continue to support the party locally as an elected Committee member working towards the vision of a fairer, progressive, Greener future.

My impetus for joining the Committee last year was the result of my increasing alarm at the speed at which we are accelerating towards the total destruction of our planet, coupled with my concern about the growing nature emergency. I passionately believe that, as we seek to recover from COVID-19 we must do all we can to prevent a return to the old normal of rampant capitalism with its entrenched inequalities and total disregard for nature and the planet.

With over 20 years as a professional communicator/campaigner in Scotland working in not for profit roles in health, equality, child protection and family support I offer the Edinburgh Branch my mix of passion and skills, particularly in communications, events organisation and policy as a Committee candidate.
