Statement
I have been on the Edinburgh Committee as the fundraising officer for the past two years, and previously as a co-convener of the branch, and am committeed to helping the Edinburgh and West Lothian Greens flourish.
My first preference roles is as the accessibility, inclusion and wellbeing officer, as I believe much more needs to be done to embed these principles throughout the branch, and indeed the party. The Covid-19 pandemic has made us re-evaluate how we do things, and I am passionate that we learn lessons about accessibility and inclusion from this - ensuring that we don't simply go back to 'business as usual' which saw many people excluded from our ativities, but also recognising that online spaces create their own barriers. I currently work for a women's equality organisation, and have lots of experience of working to make events and communications accessible and welcoming. I would like to see representative groups better embedded in the work of the branch, and initiatives like the access fund better advertised.
I am also standing for Events Officer, and Ordinary Member, as these are also roles I feel I can do alongside running for the Council in Portobello. I have a lot of experience in running events, for example arranging the 'Greening Lothian' event which was held in March this year.
