Statement
Hi, I’m Mark.
Originally from Galloway, I’ve lived in Edinburgh since I was seven, apart from stints in Glasgow and Germany. I’m a relatively new member of the party, having found Brexit and the various fiascos of lockdown sharpened my political consternation to boiling point! I came across Greens online and was happy to see their views gelled with mine, and with my 40s on the horizon I realised it was time to be part of the change I was hoping for.
I’ve worked in the public sector since 1998, and in criminal justice since 2001, with skills and expertise in data analysis, report writing, policy & scrutiny, training, business improvement, planning, and liaison with external agencies/partners. I have also served on committees of societies at University and later for a charity.
Much as I like helping spread the word amongst friends, acquaintances, and enemies(!) online, I really would like to get stuck in and help in a more practical way. Elections are only eight months away, and I think I have a fair bit of drive to offer the branch over the next year.
I’m putting myself forward as Ordinary Member, Secretary or Vice-Convenor because I am a hard-worker, meticulous about detail and a bit of a jack-of-all-trades. A voice of counsel and experience (some good, some bad), I’ll put in the legwork so that no-one becomes exhausted.
With by-elections this year, Holyrood in 2021 and council elections in 2022, let’s get busy being the change we want to see!
Thank you for your attention.
