Tao MacLeod
Statement
Please let me introduce myself. My name is Tao MacLeod and I joined the Party in 2020, after the 2019 General Election. I was annoyed at the success of the Conservatives that year, as it appeared only too obvious that they are incompetently going down a right wing rabbit hole. Wanting to do something I decided to get stuck in and after attending a couple of meetings I joined the Scottish Greens. At the time I was living in Fife and became heavily involved in the activities there. I was a sub-branch co-convenor, which gave me experience of organising at a local level. There were several social events arranged to develop communal spirit, as well as our representation at Fife Pride. In 2022 I stood as a council candidate for Kirkcaldy Central, whilst also helping out with our broader regional campaign. During the period I also produced a podcast for the Fife Greens, called Sustainable Sounds.
I have since returned to Edinburgh (having first moved here in 2007) and started attending meetings in Leith. However, I have recently moved to the Marchmont area. My day job sees me providing sports education to children and young people, as a coach, both at a school and a hockey club. The development of participation opportunities is an important one to me. We could be doing more to broaden access to sports for a variety of people, including those from state educational background. I look forward to getting involved in the Fountainbridge/Craiglockhart 2025 by election.
