Why would you like to be elected to the role(s) you are standing for?
I've been the sole Access and Inclusion Officer for the Edinburgh and West Lothian Branch for the past two years, and I’m thrilled that Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) has been given greater prominence, now with two officer roles and a dedicated working group. At a time when rights and justice are under threat, it’s so important that this is a priority for us as a party.
I’d love to be re-elected to the role and to continue some of the work I’ve been doing around making branch communications, meetings and campaigns more accessible and inclusive, and supporting underrepresented groups to stand for election. I really enjoy collaboration and am excited about the prospect of supporting a transition to a bigger and stronger EDI team.
What skills, knowledge and life experience would you bring to the role(s) you are standing for?
I am a freelance facilitator and researcher in the field of rights, justice and equalities. I work with social justice groups in Scotland and internationally (including in Palestine and Yemen), and co-founded the intersectional, anti-racist and feminist consultancy the collective. I have a strong understanding of EDI and anti-oppression principles and approaches, and am keen to keep learning and developing my skills.
Through my role as National Council Co-Convenor, I’ve learned a lot about our party’s approach to EDI (including areas for improvement!), and have built strong relationships with our party’s Representative Groups. I have previously been branch co-convenor, and a Green candidate for Holyrood, Westminster and Council elections.
