About the committee
The purpose of the branch committee is to:

Execute decisions of the branch

Develop the branch and local policy
-
Ensure the branch is represented on Scottish Green Party national council.
Committee responsibilities
The responsibilities of the branch committee include:

Organising branch meetings and other events
-
Formulating branch electoral and operational strategy for approval at branch meetings

Formulating branch budget and expenses policy (for approval at branch meetings)

Financial management of the branch, including the branch bank account
-
Organising the branch candidate selection process
-
Running election campaigns with sub-branches and local teams
-
Keeping members informed about decisions made by the Scottish Green Party national council that are relevant to the branch

Fundraising for branch activities
-
Supporting sub-branches and local teams
-
Day-to-day running of the branch

Implementing the branch disciplinary procedure
General requirements and expectations

Participation in committee meetings which take place on the first Thursday of every month - usually from 7.30 to 9.00pm. In the wake of COVID-19, all committee meetings take place online. This may change throughout the course of the year, but options for remote participation will be available, even if in-person committee meetings resume.

Attendance at branch meetings where office holders can meet, and be accountable to, local members.

Between meetings, committee members are expected to read messages, express opinions and contribute to decisions on Slack.

All roles can, to a certain extent, be tweaked by the position-holder

*to run for these roles, you need to have been a member of the party for one year. If you do not meet this criteria, please contact convenors.edin@scottishgreens.org.uk and we can discuss options to resolve this.

Gender-balancing: we are electing a gender-balanced committee. To do this, roles will be elected in pairs or groups of four as listed above. Each pair will require at least one woman to be elected. Each group of 4 will require at least two women to be elected. We are electing an odd number of roles and the role of Elections Agent is open to any gender. Note: if you are non-binary, we will be in contact to ask how you want to be treated in regard to gender balancing.
