Statement
Hello! My name is Iina Jaara and I am running to be re-elected as the Edinburgh Greens Committee Secretary. I am non-binary and use they/them pronouns.
About me
Outside of the branch committee, I'm a postgraduate student at Edinburgh University studying liberation theology, and work part-time for one of our amazing Green MSPs in parliament. I'm also a regular dogwalker and collect old postcards.
Why do I want to be re-elected?
During my past 2 years as committee secretary, I have built a solid understanding of how our branch functions, I have immensely enjoyed the role and I have been able to improve some of our admin processes. Whilst the secretary role is very familiar to me now, in 2023-2024 I would like to explore ways the committee secretary can further support the Co-Conveners with governance and any administrative support I could provide to our working groups and local teams. I'd also like to look at ways we can improve our organisational memory and skill sharing among members.
